by DFH Inc. on 08/27/15
Thomas
Eugene Talley, Sr., age 91, of Morristown, entered into eternal rest peacefully
on Saturday, August 22, 2015 surrounded by family.
Thomas
was born on December 9, 1923 to the late Hugh and Katie Ann (Smith) Talley in
White Pine, Tennessee. Thomas married his devoted, caring and loving wife
Elaine Francis Jackson, and to this union they were blessed with three loving
children: Thomas Talley, Jr., Timothy Talley and Yvonne Talley.
Thomas
gave his life to Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Olive
Missionary Baptist Church, where he attended until his health started to
decline.
Thomas
was preceded in death by his loving wife Elaine; son Tim Talley; his parents;
three sisters: Anna Mae Lucas, Pauline (Joseph) Moncrief and Ruby D. Young; two
brothers: Paul (Claudia Barrett) Talley and William Frank Talley Sr.; and two
sister-in-laws: Oneida Jackson and Mary Talley.
Thomas
leaves to cherish his memories, one son: Thomas Talley, Jr.; one daughter: Yvonne Talley; son-in-law: Terrence Harrison; two daughter-in-laws:
Stacie Talley and Teresa Talley; his
companion of many years, Charity Collins: five grandsons: Daniel Rose, Joshua
Talley, Ethan Talley, DeShawn Allen and Spencer Cannon; one great-grandson:
Cameron Rose; three granddaughters: Epiphany Talley, Kaaernitha Griffin Talley
and Tamara Blevins; two great granddaughters: Giselle Rose and Za’mora Rose;
one brother-in-law: Edward Jackson; one sister-in-law: Margaret Patterson; six
nephews: Donnie (Karen) Talley, William Talley, Jr., Terry Barrett, Robert
Barrett, Tony (Melba) Jackson and Robert Jackson; five nieces: Brenda (Steven)
Ewing, Phyllis (Anthony) Walker, Paulette Barrett, Tracey Barrett and Cathy
Barrett; six great-nephews: Eshoun Terry (Valerie) Talley, Leon Talley, Anthony
Walker, Jerrid (Heather) Walker, Daniel Tennie and Alexander Tennie; five
great-nieces: Kemia Talley, Tekeisha
(Michael) Shiflet, Brittany Ewing, Paris Barrett and Rickiana Jones; extended
family: Darren Filer and Erika Tookes; and
a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Thomas
was the hardest working man you would ever meet. He was a General Contractor
and Brick Mason by trade and continued to work in his late 80’s. Not that he had to work, but because he
wanted to be active and “Not come home and sit in front of the TV and die”. There are not many places that you can look
around Morristown, Gatlinburg, Knoxville and Kentucky that he didn’t help
build. He lived life to the fullest and
enjoyed traveling the world. He had a
wicked sense of humor and was always willing to impart words of wisdom.
Homegoing services will be Saturday,
August 29, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm
to 2:00 pm prior to the service.
Interment will follow the service at Hamblen Memory Gardens.
The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many comforting words and other expressions of kindness shown during the passing of our loved one.
Final arrangements are entrusted to Dockery Funeral Home, Inc.
