Eddie R Guthrie Jr.

Eddie R. Guthrie Jr., 59, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, June 22, 2017 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Eddie was a 1975 graduate of Morristown-Hamblen High School West. He was born September 20, 1957 in Chapel Hill North Carolina and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Eddie played trumpet in the band and was a member of Boy Scout Troop 197. He always had a smile to give, loved people and was always eager to give a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved his numerous friends, his music and to play with his grand babies. He had a very close and special relationship with his niece, Aminia. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James B. and Clorena R. Moore and Roosevelt and Julia Mae Guthrie. He leaves to cherish his memory parents Eddie Sr. and Geneva Guthrie; son Dustin Guthrie; brother Billy Douglas (Rhonda) Guthrie; grandchildren Ziona, Zaylee Guthrie; nephew Jabari Guthrie; nieces Aanlecia and Aminia Guthrie; greart-niece Sanna Guthrie and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends. The family will receive friends Friday, June 30, 2017 from 12:00 noon til 1:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church at 1800 Cherokee Drive, Morristown, Tennessee. Interment will follow at Hamblen Memory Gardens.
