Dinorah Elizabeth Simpson Cody

Dinorah Elizabeth Simpson Cody, 75, departed this life Friday, April 7, 2017. Dinorah was born to Lee and Ethel Simpson of Cincinnati and the second of six children. She graduated from Withrow High School in Cincinnati and continued her education at Morristown College. During that time she met and married Thomas Ray Doug Cody. Into this union they became proud parents of three daughters and a son. In her early life, she was baptized at Webrman Avenue Christian Church in Cincinnati and at Bethel Baptist Church, Cherokee Drive, where she was a member of Missionary Circle #3. She worked a short period of time at various jobs such as a substitute teacher, preschool helper, clerk at Alma's Boutique. Forest Products and Dixie Cabinet. Most of all she was blessed to be a domestic engineer for her family. She was a pillar of strength for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She brought not only love but compassion and lots of laughter to her entire family. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Eric and Stanley Simpson; sister Eleanor Simpson all of Cincinnati; precious son Thomas Ray Lonnie Cody of Morristown. Dinorah leaves to cherish her memory devoted husband; Thomas Ray Doug Cody; daughters Carmen, (Andre) Carr of Cleveland, Tennessee; Crystal (Krisstable) Cody of Nashville and Tonda (Robert) Webb of Morristown; sister Sandra Mitchell of Cincinnati; brother Reginald Simpson of Goose Creek, South Carolina; grandchildren Leon (Barbe) Cody of Dandridge, Paris Terell and Talea Cody of Morristown, Maria Mills of Cleveland, Tennessee, Kishonda Cody of Nashville, Lashonda (Tramine) McFadden of Morristown; 11 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; special friend Kat Moore. The family would like to acknowledge the assistance of Dr. Bonnie Burnette-Vick, Dr. Ernesto Mejia, Dr. Sunil Ramaprasad, Amedisys Home Healthcare and the staff of Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, April 15 at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Dockery Funeral Home.
